Mansfield 2020 Career Champions seek to find ways of tackling high levels of youth unemployment, the increasing number of young people deciding not to go to university, the withdrawal of government funding for work experience and careers guidance programmes. All of which are having an impact on the prospects of the future workforce.

Mansfield 20202 has developed a local Careers and Employability Framework to ‘bridge the gap’ between young people and employers. Their partners are committed to young people, and have given a range of opportunities to youngsters to meet and work with local employers, enabling them to make informed career decisions. In addition, youngsters have been able to develop employability skills to secure future jobs, further training and education.

Irvin has had links with Mansfield 2020 since its inception. He was Chairman of the Manskep linked Business Enterprise Club before joining the MADA Board (Holding company for Mansfield 2020 and Manskep) in 1998. He became Chairman of Mansfield 2020 in 2004 and stepped down from this position in at the end of 2015. As consultant in his Financial Management business, he introduces clients to Ian Bell Wealth Management (St James’s Place).

Southwell Racecourse is a horse racing venue located in North Nottinghamshire. In 2016, Southwell will race 51 times on both the Flat and Jumps.

There are plenty of highlights in the year, two of which being Ladies Day in August and Family Fun Day in July, both of which are extremely popular and part of the regions social calendar. Over 6,500 visitors experienced hospitality at the Racecourse in 2015, either in the 120 seater Seasons Restaurant or one of five hospitality suites.

Southwell also plays host to many non-racing events throughout the year, with excellent facilities perfect for conferencing, exhibitions, Christmas parties and much more. In addition to the Racecourse, Southwell Golf Club also sits on-site, the golf course is 18 hole and offers membership and pay and play opportunities.
