Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 together we mean business

Here is what our 2014 winners thought about their 2020 business award experience:

‘We were delighted to win the Career Champion Award 2014. The application process was straight forward, and it allowed us to explain why we’re supporting young people from the Mansfield area. We were also very impressed with the awards ceremony – Mansfield 2020 were great hosts. As a local employer we were really proud to win this award. It has also helped us to raise awareness of our apprenticeship and graduate schemes.’

Craig Brown, The Coal Authority: Career Champion of the Year 2014

‘The Mansfield 2020 Business Awards event proved to be a very useful tool to help motivate the staff and engender a sense of greater team spirit, which in turn leads to better productivity. I highly recommend participating in the Awards which helps to focus attention on improving specific areas of the business, and the Awards Evening itself is a wonderful occasion for fun and celebration. Well done Mansfield 2020!’

Geoff Rybicki, Pinders Optometrists: Customer Focus Award Winner 2014

'As a newly established business in the local area the prestige of winning the Mansfield 2020 Most Promising Business of the Year Award has assisted us in growing our brand recognition. It has been a good talking point when meeting with prospective companies and candidates in the area and has had a really positive effect on the team. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of applying for one of the awards to go ahead and do it!'

Martyn Salmon, Senior Salmon: New Business of the Year 2014

'We really enjoyed the 2014 Business awards and would encourage other local businesses to take part in 2015. We found the Awards process and presentation ceremony really motivating and saw improved our productivity as a result of winning Business of the Year in 2012 an well as Entrepreneurial Spirit Award 2014. Knowing that you are performing well and that this is recognised by your peers helped us drive our business forward and gave us a desire to improve further.

We entered our Sales and Marketing Executive in the Apprenticeship of the year category in 2014 to give them a taste of the awards process. She commented ‘It was a really memorable night! I didn’t win but I felt as though I really accomplished something and that it would benefit my performance. Each attendee received a brochure outlining the finalists in each award category which I thought that was a really nice touch and I will keep mine as a reminder of the night.’

At Trampoline Central we encourage our employees to strive for excellence in all areas of the business but especially when it comes to delivering our trampolining coaching courses for teachers and coaches as well as manufacturing trampoline related products such as safety mats for school and leisure centres. Winning a business award has shown our employees that all the hard work really does paid off. And as a result everyone connected to the business benefits, only the employees, but suppliers, customers and the communities in which we operate. The business as a whole is striving to continue the good work and is looking forward to the 2015 business awards.'

Janice Kissane, Trampoline Central: Multi Award winner 2012, 2013 and 2014.

'I was delighted to have been selected as the recipient of the Apprentice of the year – Special Recognition award, presented at a prestigious Dinner and Ball earlier this year. I was aware that I had been nominated for the award and pleased that all my hard work and determination was being recognised by my employers in such a way.

The Apprentice of the Year award was, after nominations were read out, awarded to another individual. At this point in the proceedings I was pleased to have made it this far and was grateful for the positive experience. To then be mentioned and awarded for Apprentice of the Year - Special Recognition was beyond my expectations. The awards ceremony was an excellent opportunity to meet other candidates and companies in a social environment, being the recipient of the award surpassed my expectations and I am grateful and would like to recognise the role of Mansfield 2020 in promoting businesses and recognising their employees, in the Mansfield and local area.'

Jack Naylor Special Recognition: Apprentice of the Year 2014

“It was a great privilege winning this prestigious award from M2020 Business Community. Winning the award has enabled the MLP to further develop the careers and employability programmes which are much needed by our young people. The award gives the MLP the credibility to approach the business community to support the work of the programmes through the successful Careers Champion Programme. It also shows our young people that the business community are committed to helping young people shape their future career direction”
